Odaiba – Help | Flickering Bright Chartreuse

Odaiba’s new track ‘Help,’ featuring Anna Majidson, delves towards the contemporary Nu Disco style. The structure is well-thought-out, concise, and to-the-point. As the pre-chorus approaches, you’re all prepared and ready to groove along in the chorus. I really liked the improvisation with ‘Please go get some help’. It’s cheerful and well-placed, with the groovy complementing the appropriate beats.

Nicko Soulchildren, based in France, describes Odaiba as a solo adventure. His proclivity for fusing elements from many genres, ranging from hiphop, funk, groove, and electronic music, can be seen in his most recent effort, ‘Help.’ His producing approach demonstrates his ability to combine rhythmic components with appealing melodic concepts. The kick snare combination with a really funky bass line establishes the groove right away. Anna smoothly enters the groove after the first few bars, giving the tune the needed melodic edge. With the inclusion of the funky percussive guitar hits, the song became more lively as it progressed. Later, the vocoder layer added depth to the production and something unique for the curious producers.

With an intriguing palette of tones, the music never loses momentum; its bright and alive. Anna’s voice tone is perfectly suited to the song. The track’s momentum is built through the usage of syncopated percussion and synth tone. To summarise, the record is a nice balance of several disco-influenced house music genres. With Nicko’s new take on the sound, it might be a really unique combination for fans to enjoy.
