C.M Jenkins-A Waltz For No Ordinary Night | Claim the ivory throne

Let me begin this article by addressing a bias I have. I don’t like long titles for songs, they say too much and often underscore the piece of art itself. So my initial reaction is to not pay attention. However, if a statue made of the tears of God and the ambition of mankind glowing with an intensity of alabaster stands before me, what do I do? Turn to the sculptor. C.M Jenkins whittles this piece, A Waltz for No Ordinary Night on the ivory keys. They are your magic carpet ride as well.

Now that you know my unnecessary introduction dissolved my bias, let the song dictate the rest of these words. Using the framework of the delicate dance of waltz, C.M Jenkins creates an unorthodox sound, with the same makeup. A refreshing take using just the instrument, this waltz underlines the night itself as the fabricator of this dream he conjures out of thin air.

A Butterfly in Allegro itself was one of the most inspiring tracks I’d heard. Like the flapping of its wings, the ascending and descending sound was magical to hear as a track, with the grace of the butterfly and heaviness of nature itself. This man lets the piano sing, so we better listen closer.

This is where this instrumental is different. Many waltz sections are guided by the orchestra, and the strings take away the honor and respect. Here, you hear C.M Jenkins create it solely for the moment, and which makes it extraordinary as well. As it slowly settles in as the emotional chord progression it is, I imagine staring into the eyes of the beautiful maiden I dance with. A personification of this song, elements of my reality making a dream. It is no ordinary night as it is locked away in my psyche.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
