We said it once, and we will take every opportunity to say it again. It may have been a while since debutant hip-hop artists started appearing solo on the scene with the assertion and conviction that SWANNY.95 has begun to, and it is a phenomenon not to be missed out on.
Appearing as the opener on his debut album PRIMAL, SWANNY.95’s track TOTEM is a lyrical explication of pure word-to-the-beat cypher, underlined with an ominous melody that borrows inspiration from some of the stalwarts of the scene such as J.Cole and 21 Savage. TOTEM is a collection of truthful verses about living the life of the artist, explaining the painful nostalgia of the past and the hurdles of the present, doubled with the worries of the future.
SWANNY.95 appears his most self-assured and unruffled across the track, which makes the honesty in the track even more contagious, warranting introspective appraisals. If there was ever a track to vehemently announce an introduction into the scene to shake off some of the voices operating in the circuit, TOTEM becomes SWANNY.95’s lyrical mouthpiece for that propaganda.
