The Reading-based fraternity OSP – which consists of Esa Kwame (rapper, beatmaker), J Blackz (rapper, singer-songwriter, beatmaker), Silqe (rapper, beatmaker), and Subject (producer, engineer) – was founded in 2014 with the goal of becoming a significant force in the UK hip-hop industry. The four-piece earned their tagline, which originally stood for Only Speak Positive, with a run of strong and bright songs that attempted to communicate a compelling narrative of equality and understanding through their music. Although the artists have been constantly working with various musicians and also releasing solo works in recent years, their harmony has remained unrivalled since they originally bonded, as they want to deliver a vibe that is unmatched in the music industry.
Now they have come up with a new EP titled ‘OSP, ‘ as their band name. There’s slick and infectious energy to the track “Fill it up” that is impossible not to move along with. As the beat kicks in and builds, you can feel the anticipation in the air for the vocalists to let loose. And when they finally do, it’s a toe-tapping, head-bobbing pleasure. It is an invigorating experience that one will not soon forget thanks to its unique melodies and beats
“Breathe” is aptly named, as it truly feels like a breath of fresh air. The band’s eclectic mix of sounds and styles makes them stand out from the pack, and their passionate delivery ensures that this track is one you won’t soon forget.
“Let’s do something,” provides listeners with rhythms that will keep you hooked from beginning to end. The beats and crisp vocals are easy to groove to, while the raps are smooth and will make you want to hear more. “When?” and “When-Riser Dub” are both amazing songs with strong beats and powerful vocals. They are perfect for working out, dancing, or just listening to when you need some motivation. I have to say that I really enjoy the beats in “When? – Riser Dub.” They are very well put together and create a great soundscape for the song. You can imagine yourself dancing around exuberantly with a crowd of other energetic people just going all out as the sounds fill your ears, bringing with them new levels of energy as well.
OSP’s anthem hooks and undeniable groove are indicative of being one of the summer’s biggest tunes. So make sure you have this one on your party playlist – you won’t regret it!
