Podge Lane – Battle Wounds | Brown Green n Rust

Battle Wounds is the latest single release by Irish alternative country and folk singer-songwriter Podge Lane. Based from Cork City, the second largest city in the Republic of Ireland, has made his mark as a compelling artist in the genre. His acclaimed 2018 debut EP People Leave In Colour lead to a nomination for Irish Post Indie Artist of the year. Podge Lane has also created an impeccable live presence with audience banter, self aware jokes, and incorporating improvisation into his live sets.

Battle Wounds is a lively folk pop and rock song with some emotive and reflective lyricism. The single cover artwork with his brown, green, and yellow hues set the backdrop for the sound of the song. The song begins with a twangy riff. The acoustic guitar tone here is crystal clean. We get a rustic sound that entices the listener. The saccharine vocals speak to you pulling you into its energy and narrative. Light percussion which is played tastefully highlights the songwriting most importantly. The song of the chorus is quite catchy and will ensure it stays in your mind. Great songwriting by Podge Lane.

With influences such as Johnny Cash, Buffy, and alternative country legends Wilco, Podge has his musical DNA set for him. Blending from his root genres of bluegrass, indie-rock, and country, Podge Lane creates music that will resonate with the listener while having a sound anchored in life. We get a mix of joyous energy with a retrospective mood. With Battle Wounds, Podge Lane gives us an organic song with an unforgettable hook!
