Y The Ghost’s work has gradually grown more nuanced with this latest single – ‘Find Us(Beyond)’. Blending ancient guitar styles and singing with modern synthesizers have led to the creation of this masterpiece. It is a giant step forward in the group’s ethereal sound. These are the kind of songs that just get better with every play.
‘Find Us(Beyond)’ is an ethereal single that resonates with an unknown emotion of melancholy and sadness that is always lingering in every one of us. The warm comfort of sadness is actually enjoyable with this amazing single. Y The Ghost’s vocals are perfectly complimented by the female leads that just echo behind his voice. I am getting goosebumps every time I listen to this; especially when the electric guitar strums and marks the beginning of the crescendo. The drums are also perfectly spatially arranged, with a nice reverb. This makes it sound as ethereal as the vocals and not in your face and annoying.
Slowly the track moves into a part with both the male and female vocals. This part just splits my head apart slowly and gently, making it a thoroughly enjoyable experience. What a wonderfully seductive track! The guitar riffs just breathe life into this track as it builds into an aesthetic musical experience. The bells are a really nice touch and add to the calming vibe of the song. ‘Find us(Beyond)’ caters to my entire sonic palate with harmonies, guitar riffs, percussions grooves that all comes down to the blissful bravura of the producer.
Full of lush harmonies and poignant lyrics, ‘Find us(Beyond)’ is one of my favourite releases already. It is a collaboration between Y The Ghost, Kate Northrop and Elisa Giannina van den Berg, a marvellous trio with an amazing talent for creating infectious music!
