Forgotten Garden- Memoriam | Painful Yet Beautiful

With influences from dark/gothic post-punk, Forgotten Garden is an indie rock band. They occasionally veer off the path of post-punk and embrace a more acoustic realm as well. Danny plays most of the instruments, with Inês contributing the vocals. Even though Inês is Portuguese, they both reside in Scotland’s north. As of 2019, they have been collaborating. Forgotten Garden’s music is atmospheric and heavily laced with emotion. From the Cure to the Doors, many great bands have served as inspiration for Forgotten Garden’s music.

This amazing band has released a new single, “Memoriam.” We all have that one song that completely gets us in our feelings. The one that no matter how many times we hear it, we can’t help but be transported back to that moment in our lives when things were just so painful. “Memoriam” captures this feeling. This beautiful and heartfelt song was motivated by loss and suffering. It reminds us that we are all connected by our grief and will always remember those we’ve lost. Whether it’s the ethereal melodies, the driving rhythms, or the emotive vocals, there’s something about this track that feels otherworldly. And yet, despite its otherworldly atmosphere, the song is still profoundly relatable. Forgotten Garden has always been a master of creating powerful and moving music, and this song is no exception. Inês’s dreamy vocals are captivating. Her emotions are so pure and raw. You can feel them in every word she sings. She just has a way of reaching into your soul and connecting with you on a deep level. The drums represent the pain, the synths represent the beauty, and Ines’s vocals represent the longing for what could have been. The song ends with the drum beat it started with, giving the listener a sense of closure. It’s definitely one of my favorite indie songs.

Enjoy listening to Memoriam here.
