Dax, the rapper, is no stranger to fame. With multiple charting singles, and a loyal fan following of more then three million people across the globe, this man knows how to make a hit, and then keep at it– and this time is not any different; with “Life”, he brings more of the sauce that makes him such an acclaimed artist. Keep reading for my thoughts!
One of the things I like the most about Dax’s style of music is his honest, raw storytelling– often, without reservations, diving into themes of self-reflection, and serving as inspiration to self. That kind of style is what we get to see on “Life”; with a twang of positivity and a reminder to keep looking up, and to stay optimistic.

No theme is justified without good execution, and I’m glad to report that that is the case here– with his trademark tight rhyming that seamlessly flows from bar to bar, supported by the chill, laid-back guitar riff that makes the base for the beat. He keeps his rhyming more tailored to storytelling; for, remember, “Life” is not about complex schemes with displays of technical grandeur, as much as it is about Dax talking to his listeners, telling them what he believes in– and that is done more than well here.

The beat maintains simplicity, letting the vocals take centre stage, with a simple clean guitar riff that evolves into dual tracks and counter-melodies throughout the song, introducing just the right amount of variety to keep the listener engaged and wanting more. The low-end is taken care of by a deep, rumbling 808 that holds the energy of the song firmly in the centre, with the rest of the sound design playing beautifully well together.
In conclusion, Dax continues to impress, going from height to height with “Life”. As is apt, this song, for how well the themes and the techniques come together, gets my two-thumbs-up recommendation! Check out “Life” by Dax here:
