DAWT are the premonition before a storm – when the gust of the winds can tear you apart. They choose to make their mark with a single that not only showcases their technical prowess but also their vocal ability, lyricism and depth into themes. This one is their debut single called Brutalist Manifesto, and it’s a great song with even greater layers. Let’s get into it.
Leaving no pocket of silence unpierced, DAWT open with intense, thrilling riffs and percussion. Headed by Apoorv and Tushar, they craft dense, meaty bass lines with surgically accurate and explosive percussion. Attention turns to vocals naturally, as they dominate the rhythm, along with the riff essence during the verse. At 1:27 suddenly, you’re treated to an impressive vocal turnpike where DAWT infuse their creative vocal range. It contrasts the heaviness, gives a hook to revolve around and prepares you for the next rundown.

It’s where the soul elevates out of a purgatory loop to find a portal to heaven on the other side. It is your eureka! moment for not just the track but also a spotlight on their composition skills. You know very little about this band right now. Now you know they’re capable of producing bangers like this again. This is an atmospheric breeze that you feel in a Deftones chorus, especially in the Saturday Night Wrist years.
Floating to the second half of the song, I was excited by the prospects that DAWT has shown leading this band. We perhaps will get to hear more singles before an exciting EP. You have all the love from India; now conquer the world!:
