Wonder, the fifth single from Adar Alfandari’s debut project is also the album’s categorical romantic piece. The Israeli based singer-songwriter has a keen ear for crafting subtle, soft, and impactful melodies. Wonder’s greatest asset is the guitar on the track, each twang so keenly understated but powerfully resonant. Adar’s voice, distinctive and emotive, serves as the perfect complement for the cinematic piece.
“I’ve been walking barefoot all night” he echoes at the top of his lungs, albeit exceptionally controlled in intonation. The chorus, where Adar continuously asks, says, whatever you want to call it, “Let’s Wonder” is beautifully composed. It’s a song that’s as much about a loved one as it is about hope and finding your way.
The final section of the track transcends into a more rock/operatic conclusion. With Adar’s vocals almost overlaid in the background the song crescendos into a more atmospheric space before slowly and calmly coming back to the surface. On the track, Adar says “This is the album’s “love song” and the text is written in a colorful and intimate way.” His debut album is scheduled to come out next month, and if the singles are anything to go by, it will be well worth your listen.
It’s a beautiful singer-songwriter piece, and one that experiments a lot more than most. Check it out on streaming now!
