Godless return with lethal metal construct in latest single, ‘Architect of Torment’

Godless are as loud and relentless as ever. The metal band from India has risen quickly to the top of the pyramid in the country’s music scene, their talents being recognised globally, including at Wacken Open Air in 2018. There is no live show where they haven’t given their all, bringing in hordes of fans for some of the most vicious mosh pits you’ll see during festivals or gigs. They continue their reign with the explosive, determined Architect of Torment.

Be warned, this is death metal that defined it for this country, especially with the technicality and detail Godless writes and performs with. After their extremely brutal and ambitious Genesis of Decay in 2025, the brutality still resides in the music they make. Architects opens with a signature scream into the opening of the song, with blistering drum sections and doom riffs bringing quite the rhythm. Nikhil Rajkumar shows his mettle with some intense double bass patterns. Abbas’ bass sections make the lower registers an inferno, with Moiz kicking the guitar sections up a notch. The band seems to be in complete sync and on to a new chapter with this single, signalling more to come.

There are relentless instrumental sections that show us how good the band is with technical aspects while capturing the sound of purgatory. The mix is commendable, bringing every layer with precarious measure, not losing the meat of it all. From their lineup changes to intense sound shifts, Godless have made sure innovation is something they revolve around. But never, never at the cost of being the most brutal of death metal.
