Chandra release a collection of elating rock with their EP, “Lifted”

The party energy of Chandra is something that cannot be replicated. This isn’t a band’s broad banner, but their actual outlook on life. As rock progressed through the decades, there was a sombre air to it. This band clears the air with a batch of glitter, baked goods and happiness. Don’t expect to be disappointed, for then you will be. It doesn’t get more uplifting than this EP. This is their latest release, Lifted

Though many of the songs are our regular jams, it feels great in a collection. The EP features songs like Smile (No Fox Gibbon), I’ll Be There and Overload. It is the formulation of a band’s sound that comes through pure mirth and joy. If you get back to the fun rhythms, you can understand why they can get so addicting. Humming the songs is the obvious step the moment you start listening to their music. Unique lyrics will etch themselves in your memories, while Chandra appears to have a ball.

The funky grooves by the Bristol based band come from the native neck of the guitar. There are no complicated arpeggios, something complex that strays you away from the music. Hell, I was tempted to pick up my dust laden guitar after decades and swing it for a new tune. Especially songs like Pretty, make you stay true to your nature and self. It is the purest form of self-expression, coming from a band that is as excited and passionate about their music as you could be about life. No fake morose projections, just people living life and having fun. When did you ever see that last?

Chandra have this characteristic stadium rock feel in their cosy music. Though you could hum their songs in a massive venue, their warm comfort is bite sized, the ones you can hear with your family and friends. If you have checked out their videos, you can see why they use such happy frames of reference. Other than the synthesised dopamine you get on social media, this is your true place of escape from the worries of the world. We’re lucky, all we need to do is press play.

Refreshing songs like I’ll Be There have a hard rock punch as well. It is the alt-rock touch that makes their sound so adaptable, yet resonant. Vocals by Chandra are impressive, and the lyrics will be tattooed in your brain after just one listen.

I especially enjoyed Lighters To The Sky in this EP. It almost asks you to come back to simpler times. The moment when you don’t have to pull out your phone during a concert, and rather just a lighter would do. Where you are connecting with the music, and the light unites us all. Chandra are the band that can make it happen, one song at a time.

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
