Nasti – Roses | Hard Hitting

Meet Nasti – a 22-year-old Irish hip-hop bard from North Dublin. Nasti is a noted music innovator with a flair for wordplay, as well as his ability to tap into the universe of sounds around him. Experienced across several different subgenres of hip hop, Nasti chooses a combination of classic beats and story-telling techniques to make sure everyone in the audience gets a chance to experience some intangible magic between the music and himself. Nasti has headlined two nights in Dublin’s Soundhouse venue as part of RTE 2XM’s Garageland series and expects to have an action-packed festival season showcasing his artistry.

In ‘Roses,’ Nast is quick to remind us that one can do a lot with a little. With the hard-hitting lyrics beats you wouldn’t expect paired together, combined with poignant rhymes and his vocal style over smooth, whistling melodies – ‘Roses’ is an incredible track that unexpectedly found its way into greatness thanks to Nasti. The song reminds us of the importance of giving people flowers while they are still alive since everything fades eventually. I believe it is his dynamic pace, backed by the irresistible bass line, will delight listeners the most. The track has a chilling beat that gives it intense energy and Nasti rides through his powerful lyrics that are so soulful it leaves us in awe.

We had the opportunity to interview Nasti. Read on to know more.

1. Hi Nasti! Congratulations on the release of “Roses,” your new single. I liked how the soundscape is simple yet powerful. How did you come up with the song’s arrangement?

A: As you can probably tell, the song holds a great deal of personal meaning to me. When I came across the beat, I found it quite easy to just spill my emotions out. I’d say it came more naturally to me than any song I’ve previously written.

2.      The song’s message is heartfelt and thought-provoking. What was the
motivation? Was it based on personal experience?

A: For sure, I think the best material for these type of tracks derives from what you’ve gone through. I would like to think it is still relatable to people in ulterior ways too, but anything I talked about on Roses came from the heart.

3.      I read that you are mainly into hip hop.  What drew you to this
particular genre?

A: I didn’t always listen to rap or hiphop growing up, I’d say I really got into it when I was 18, so like 4 years ago. It’s been my life since. I like branching out to multiple sub genres, and when I’m in the right frame of mind I think my more emotional songs are standouts in my catalogue. I hope to keep putting out more of those.

4.      Will you be exploring new genres in the future?

A: I never stop exploring. I take inspiration from wild places and I feel that this is the time to establish my sound, find what works and then cement it from there.

5.      What’s coming up next? Are there any albums on the way?

A: I’ve got a single called ‘Couchsurfing’ coming out in the next couple of weeks, then it’s full focus on my EP. I’ve got a video lined up for that too, so exciting things ahead.

Enjoy listening to ‘Roses’ here.
