MasonRoseGray, a Florida-based singer-songwriter, has a latest single called “perfect design” that makes you grin. Your songs have a purity and simplicity to them, in my opinion. How did you come up with the idea for your song “perfect design”? What do you suppose the song’s genesis is?

“I wrote perfect design to encompass the essence of love. I found true love within myself and learned to appreciate all facets. In turn, it helped cultivate the many forms of love in my relationships with family, partners, friends and strangers. The song idea and melody came to me in the mirror as I was getting ready for a sister dinner date. I started singing perfect design around the house and played guitar as my sister, Brittany sang along. We would shoot lyrics back and forth, being super goofy and having a blast. These were some of my favourite moments in the creation.This song is dedicated to her. She’s one of my best friends. She’s always there for me when I need her and I love her so much! Our relationship stands the test of time. She puts a smile on my face every time she sings perfect design. It’s catchy and gets stuck in your head.“

In terms of the arrangement, I thought the sounds had a lot of raw emotion to them, which I thought complimented the songwriting beautifully. What has been your approach while writing the arrangements?

“The upbeat folk pop influenced energy with a foot stomping beat fills your soul and spirit making you want to sing and dance unapologetically. Two of my favourite things. I feel so alive and free, my heart races and my chest pounds. It takes my breath away and it’s ultimately when I feel the most connected and present.

Songwriting is an adventure and by far my favourite part of the process. Lyrics pour out of me as I get inspiration from books, conversations, emotions and life. Then, I usually do some rewrites, rearrange, practice and perfect the melody to fit the instrumentals.”

Is there anything special you’d like to say to your audience through this song?

“Perfect design describes loving every part of your mind, body and soul as well as others. I believe we are all individually unique and special in our own ways. It’s also a metaphor for my infinite love of nature and the universe. I find love in the little things, sunsets, flowers, laughs, kisses and smells. The world is a romantic place and love is the key to making it go round.

Perfect design is a token of love from my heart to yours. I value the importance of truly connecting with humanity. My hope is to spread love and joy through this song.”

Share what you learned throughout the recording sessions. Were there any difficult obstacles you had to overcome, or was it all fun? Do you want to share some of your favourite recollections from the sessions?

“Being in the recording studio is my favourite! I really enjoy the out of body experience and not putting limitations on my creativity. I often find new ways of self expression as I record and feel most at home. It’s truly a magical experience. At times it can be challenging and definitely takes a lot of energy but I find it’s super rewarding as I continue learning with each song. I fully immersed myself in the process including the production, vocal arrangement, mixing and mastering. My favourite part is when the track is finished I feel an ecstasy high, usually breaking out in a creative freestyle dance.”

So, what’s up next? Would you like to give your followers any information about the upcoming releases?

“I’m in the process of producing an album called OMNIPRESENCE. I also have many creative projects in the works, including multiple song releases accompanied with music videos. I’m working with multiple producers to continue expanding and learning as an artist. I have notebooks full of songs that I can’t wait to produce and share with the world!
