Don’t Fear The Natives – We Don’t Wanna Hear A Thousand Reasons

Don’t Fear The Natives is an Alternative Rock band from Donegal, Ireland. While they only have an EP and two singles out right now, the band has gained loads of traction in the music sphere. These lads are quite electric with their crashing guitars and delicate harmonies. Moreover, their music sounds like it’s straight out of an Assassin’s Creed game.

We Don’t Wanna Hear A Thousand Reasons, their most popular track sounds like an Alternative Folk-Rock song. The guitars follow a rather hypnotic rhythm with a rather simple chordal structure. Meanwhile, the drums and percussions are light, airy elements with a more rustic feeling. However, the vocal work is absolutely sublime. The main melody is catchy, serene and absolutely divine. The backing vocals and harmonies are rustic, beautiful and equally serene to the main melody. However, it’s the little things that chime in every now and then that really get me going on this track. We Don’t Wanna Hear A Thousand Reasons reminds me of the more acoustic MGMT tracks with how uplifting they feel. Additionally, the lyrics are a little dark, grim and sad. With lines like There’s a call to arms and a million voices / We don’t want to hear a thousand reasons the song is almost like commentary.

Don’t Fear The Natives have created music that can appeal to just about any music lover. Additionally, their harmonies and mixes are pleasant, serene and all-in-all a joy to listen to.

I listen to and make silly noises while analysing why people behave the way they do.
