Seven Red Lions share a roaring rock debut with their first album, “Temple Road”

Seven Red Lions roar into your eardrums from the first moment you press play. This is true rock, the way it was supposed to be listened to. They call their style tequila rock, and I’m happy to call it that as well. It is the perfect cocktail of the retro genre that will always live on, with the contemporary sensibilities of the new band. Formed in London, the band has lead singer and guitarist David Lion from Mexico, bassist and vocalist Sara Priegue from Portugal, the drummer Omar Perez representing Venezuela, and Magnus on guitar hailing from Sweden. This is their album, Temple Road.

So what makes their sound so special. None of the band members are in this for the clout. The music speaks its mind, the vocals are brilliant and unique. In these themes, the band performs like their soul is on fire, with passion and resolve. It is the incredible tie of a band that can make your experience worth it with just their resolve for the compositions.

Take the song Hurry Up. It is the second track on the album, and has a soothing, softer melodic opening compared to the first. It is a jazzy swing overall that we get to experience. This is an incredible, memorable verse section, along with catchy titbits of harmonies. The hard rock riff of Vancouver will hit you next, hopefully we progress linearly together. It will give you a proper 80s rock wind, and you’re sailing off to the high seas. Seven Red Lions bring some of their greatest swings with the music, preparing you for the groove with just their efforts.

In Gaia, the band leaves rather large pockets of space for the progression to graciously ring out. It is an exciting number that brings their versatility to the fore, making for an incredible, enriching aural experience. Underground takes us into a faster pace again, balancing on the simple essence that is the melody which turns to become king. Seven Red Lions are very particular about their signature sound that seems to come from them as a singular unit. In their first album, they have their strongest suit out, and it is a brilliant royal flush. If they want to experience a more prog-rock space, they do it perfectly.

It is amazing to hear a band showcase such mastery without pretence. It is like listening to a college band sharpen their skill while keeping their personal strides aside to make something that will write their legacy. Sara Priegue and David Lion make some of the best vocal harmonics you will hear this year with their chemistry. Make sure you follow the band on Instagram and Twitter to explore some amazing class and elevated levels in rock. Listen to the explosive album here:

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
