The storytelling that Prism Tones use is unlike anything else. At a time when AI seems to be defining art, this collective is going the other way and taking matters into their own hands. It is an intensive, incredible full-length album with 15 tracks. After the tenth track you hear far more detail and the soul of music in instrumental numbers. This is their latest album, something that we can all strive for. This is called Creative Spark.
Exploring a new theme
The best way to ever introduce yourself is during a first impression. This might be your first time listening to Prism Tones and the warmth in the live instruments comes out from the first track itself. The song is called Awake, and this is not just the metaphysical one but what should be stirring in your soul as well. With a brass section that is too groovy to ignore, this song is all about settling into this rich vibe. It leads perfectly into Climbing, which is a blues ditty. It has an incredible opening riff that sets the tone to stadium rock, like the physical dial you want when you want to destroy the algorithm.

Not only are the instrumentals and harmonies rich and energising, but they also give us a sense of the baroque that you start missing very soon. Music now seems to be flat by choice, almost as though you are not able to control the emotional aspect of it. Where all the colours enter into a song is where you can make the audience feel like they are being seen as well. The high of this comes in when the title track Creative Spark plays. It has such a happy and positive reinforcement within it that you’re forced to just smile and nod your head.
A track like Insane Fusion will take you by surprise. It uses a chord progression that you might have heard a lot of times but uses it like the comfort factor of a series you want to keep watching. The build is immense. It’s entertaining and, most importantly, very human in its approach. As it can be heard in the music, Prism Tones uses electrical greatness for these MIDI compositions inspired by the likes of Zappa and Bowie. It is this compositional brilliance that we need to salute, really engulfing yourself in music.
Finding the thrill in composition
In tracks like Ungentle Muse, you are treated to a complete shift in emotions, in the style of composition and the build of the song as well. Vocals will also take you by surprise, having a special quality to them. I am really impressed as to how the compositions really complement the style of the themes, give a nod to the inspirations, yet have their own foundational signature quality.
As if this was not enough, Creative Spark also has Prism Tones bringing five instrumental tracks closing the album. It’s range like you’d never expect. Listen to the music here:
