“With All That”, by Stoopid Swagg OG: Metro hip-hop, with a flowy twist

Stoopid Swagg OG, also known as Okye Glaze, grew up immersed in the raw and soulful music of Memphis, Tennessee, and currently calls California home. Check out my thoughts on his latest track “With All That”!

The track follows a nice, bouncy mid-2010s hip-hop sound with trap influences, with a lot of sampling work going on in the background, yielding the track a dimension of interest that I quite liked. Okye’s vocals ring loud and confident, with the low-end synths playing great support, with the dual-tracking and ad-libs in the track fostering more power and roundness in the track.

The flow remains on-the-beat for the most part, with the syllables landing on each kick and snare hit, but there are stylistic additions of micro-timing that give “With All That” a flowy, smooth sound that I quite appreciated. The energy dynamics of the song remain really well-preserved throughout the runtime, starting and ending with great amounts of energy, something I really appreciated.

The long outro section shows off more ad-libs and outtakes, as the sound slowly morphs into tinges of saturation in the mix. The lyrical themes are what one would look to from a hip-hop track in 2023, with technically well-executed lyrics and delivery.

In conclusion, Stoopid Swagg OG brings a good deal of evolution in “With All That”, and I’m excited to see what the future has in store for Swagg. Check out “With All That” here:
