Audiovault is a dynamic Grunge/Hard Rock band hailing from the East of Manila, featuring Fletcher, Bono, Fitz, and Aries. With a mission to revive the iconic sound of the 90s and champion original Pinoy music, Audiovault brings their latest album, “Upsurge” — keep reading for my thoughts!
The nine-track album has elements of hard rock music, grunge and garage rock music, delving into an energetic, aggressive rock sound that is sure to get you moving and grooving right from the very first second. The opener, “Down”, is a power-packed stick of dynamite that sets your speakers on fire the minute you play it – and some other notable mentions include “Give It All Away”, which is a slower, more deliberately paced number that brings an introspective, poignant sound that is sure to make you involuntarily start humming the rhythm guitar lines before you’re willing to admit it — and the rhythm guitar work on this track is very skilfully done.

More special mentions include “Living On The Eastside”, and “Everybody Wants You” — all of them shine in their respective sound, and bring you a lot of energy and finesse in the instruments. The vocal delivery is also brilliant, with well-written melodies, great delivery and power, and overall, there’s a lot to appreciate here!

The production on “Upsurge” retains a lot of character and poise in its execution, especially with the guitars and the drumming, which keep swift pace. The mixing and mastering on this album is also top-notch with excellent control and smoothness in the mids, great stereo imaging and dual guitar work, as well as tight, precisely rendered drumming. Every element has a place in the mix, and do not shout over the others, making for a rewarding listen. Take a listen to the album here!
