‘Unnoticed’ by Moxxy Jones is a collection of alternative pop songs that tell a moving and powerful story about someone yearning to break a toxic cycle. Each song simultaneously feels self-contained and part of the whole. Each one in genres that subtly blend electropop, synthpop, alt-pop and rock.
The mood of the songs is mixed. Some like the lead single ‘My Time’ and ’Change My Mind’ use their pop-rock guitars and percussion to give the album a light and almost hopeful tone. The tracks that are characterised by a more electronic/synth sound, like the tracks ‘Unnoticed’, ‘Leave The Room’ and ‘Sink Into You’ are dark and almost insidiously tempting.
The songs seem to be from two people’s perspectives as they navigate the emotions they feel within a toxic cycle.

‘Unnoticed’: Track By Track
The First Cycle
‘My Time’ attempts to set the tone for the album, with its air of loud liberation and nostalgic pop rock band sound. There seems to be a premature sigh of relief while attempting to maintain a sweet, grounded mood from the start.
‘Leave The Room’ seems to be a do response to the previous track. It attempts to pull in with its synth pop-rock sound, trying to seduce with its light and intoxicating tone. The song introduces a darkness, an almost loop in the album’s thematic structure. “…We don’t have to leave this room if we don’t have to…if you want to we can stay here naked…”
This darkness and the light in both these songs oscillate from hope to hopelessness throughout.
The third track ‘Another Yesterday’ is a nostalgic banger reminiscent of summery 80s pop-rock. The nature of this nostalgia is bitter-sweet heartache, with lyrics that sprinkle in a desire to break out of this loop. “…I’m selfish but I’m not helpless…” paired with, “…why don’t we go back to then…rewrite the memories…” and “…we’re alone, but we don’t have to be…”.
It gives into the singer of ‘Leave The Room’ and their temptation.
‘Sinking Into You’ is the result of being sucked into the cycle again as it tugs and pulls. The synths paired with a magnetic electric guitar solo help the song’s sound feel distant, soft and cushioned. It’s a feeling of being sucked into quicksand and not realising it. The opening line of the song seems to sum it up, “…I think I’m drowning deeper in your love…”.
The Second Cycle
‘Letting Go Of You’ brings back the light, liberating rock in another (futile) attempt at breaking out. The song feels almost healing. This feels present in lines like “…I won’t drown because I’m feeling stronger…”. But the bridge brings back dark notes, “…I’m wishing and acting like all this is simple…I’m in the deep end…”.
‘Never’ sounds like a pop and RnB-infused fever dream that brings back the intoxicating nature of ‘Leave The Room’. It’s a response to the previous track and is darker. It calls back to ‘Sink Into You’ with an electric guitar solo that helps its soundscape feel heavier almost.
The seventh track on the album ‘Walls Down’ feels like its most vulnerable track. Its synths lend a grey mood to the song, almost like it would sound perfect on a rainy day. Its soft 80s rock-ballad sound reinforces how raw the song’s lyrics feel. “…The weight of your love I carried alone…” and “…no bridges left unburned…”.
There is also a prevailing sense of clarity moving from this point on.

The Final Loop and Conclusion
The title track of the album, ‘Unnoticed’ holds the crux of the album’s overall theme. Its distorted vocals and screaming synths highlight a hidden message rife with misunderstandings because of emotions unnoticed. It’s a hard-hitting track, with deep pianos that hint at a darker vulnerability on the track.
“…Do you even notice that I go unnoticed?…”
‘Change My Mind’ is a final attempt at turning back and rethinking. It begs at a resolve, the singer can finally “…find what you took from me…”. It is a powerful, hopeful, but dark rock ballad that is ultimately a fight song for its singer.. “…We can’t survive on borrowed time….so save your breath (it) won’t change your mind…”.
The penultimate track on ‘Unnoticed’ is called ‘Without You’. It’s a synthpop ballad with rock elements. This while its mood feels quiet, blue and almost soft. Its lyrics are raw, honest and bittersweet with the singer finally expressing how this situation has made them feel. “…How do you manage not to care about the one thing I can’t stop thinking about…”.
Its loud outro feels like a sincere, almost moving plea for a second (another) chance.
‘Fray’, the final track on the album is a moving track that encompasses a rawness that has been building since track one. It reads like a song of caution and warning, and almost seems to say “don’t make the same mistake I did”. This song settles on hopelessness, accepting and working through their experiences.
“…Can anybody see my dreams as vividly as I do?…” and “…don’t dim her light…”.
The song’s outro drowns out its vocals, expanding into an almost deafening crescendo. Expanding and expanding before almost deflating and fading out by the end.
“…Don’t seal her faith…”
‘Unnoticed’ by Moxxy Jones feels like a quintessential, almost nostalgic pop-rock album. It makes for a compelling listen, that sets off goosebumps by the end.
