‘Unbreakable Soul’: Building Synths and Resonant Lyrics

The deep synths that are initially introduced on the track build and bubble up, cascading into what feels like an intense mood. The electric guitars and percussion join the fold soon after, layering the soundscape while sustaining its moving build. This alternating build of synths and percussive instrumentation is also layered by reverb. This helps the song feel more expansive and intense to an extent, like the song is being played underwater.

‘Unbreakable Soul’ holds a sort of weight because of how layered its instrumentation feels. The song’s lyrics highlight this as they acknowledge the pressure someone must be going through, while urging them to keep going anyway. Nala Spark’s magnetic voice urges the person being addressed to “…reclaim your crown…” and to “…embrace your wounds…”. Even though the vocal is sometimes drowned out by the rest of its building instrumentation, the lines being sung are fighting.

“…Take a chance and embrace the unknown…”

The synths on ‘Unbreakable Soul’ stand out as they trickle, bubble up and rain down simultaneously. The song’s build and build culminates into a dribbling synth outro, that feels reminiscent of heavy rain on a humid day. The song resolves on a heavy but optimistic note that seems evocative of rainy relief.

All in all, ‘Unbreakable Soul’ (ft. Nala Spark) by Wavewulf is a kinetic build-up of intense but resonant resilience. It’s feels and sounds like an intense and motivating listen.
