Their self-titled debut album was released in 2020, and they return with a string of single releases. Some disco synth pop stuff like their recent ‘Listen to Love‘. Luckily for us, they have a new synth drenched banger up their sleeve which is their latest single ‘Demons‘. Moving from the more uplifting jump on your bed energy in ‘Listen to Love’, ‘Demons’ is more subdued.
Lyrically, the song deals with a love that began as euphoria and escape, slowly mutating into obsession, self-doubt, and mental turmoil. You’re haunted by “demons” that can’t tell apart from love, memory, or manipulation. Sounds relatable. But the energy is quite groovy. This is a tasteful electropop, synthpop track which makes me wanna exclaim ‘disco rock’!. Cool stuff, I’d say. I really liked the splendid synth riff in the intro that plays throughout the song. Also, the snappy snare is really, well, snappy! The production is also something to savour, and the retro synths really give it that 80s feel. You can especially hear it around the 2:20 mark, with those brilliant harmonies and synths working really well together.
If you enjoy hook‑driven, modern pop built around synths and electronic production, ‘Demons’ by Two Sevens will be right up your alley.
