The Bergamot has been making intimate music that tells emotional stories since 2016 and their versatile music creation technique over the years has helped them form their signature sound. Their latest release, “Burns” is a blend of melodic elements along with gentle melodies that create an in-the-air, mesmerising sound altogether. Harmonically rich, and filled with emotion, the artists showcase unique and enthralling soundscapes on their new single.
The track is introduced with a detuned, lofi-style guitar riff over a subtle, slightly complex beat progression. Mellow and filled with harmonics that bring some depth to the vocal melody, the song has a nostalgic vibe that sounds like a electronic-esque Cigarettes after Sex track. Featuring acoustic guitar interludes and melodic backing vocals, The Bergamot’s lyrics delve into the feeling of longing for someone. – “I want to hold you even when you’re far away, I want to believe you when you say you’re here to stay, I’m here to stay no matter what you say”
The second verse features a soft synth melody along with some intricate additions in the production, aiding to the engaging listening experience. There aren’t many elements used in this track and I think that’s what keeps the calm vibe that’s present flowing throughout. In addition, “Burns” has a beautiful outro section, ending the song on a very mellow and satisfying note that’s very pleasing to listen to and has a dreamy aura as well. The smooth transitions make you feel like the song is really light in a sense, and the heartfelt lyrics are sung very naturally.
Known best for their album, “Mayflies”, The Bergamot has come a long way, and they seem to have countless stories to tell the world. Their ability to translate emotion into beautiful songs is captivating and their journey so far has brought about a lot of gifts for their fans. I’m eager to hear what more the artists have in store for us and after listening to the track, I’m pretty sure you will be too!
