‘Someday’: Hope Over Hate

‘Someday’ juxtaposes its calm sounding, spread out guitars with a piercing vocal performance. The vocals have got this soulful edge that feels rung out to dry almost, pleading for hope in world filled with negativity. “…Some kinda pain, I realise I can’t run away…”. The narrator recognises that something intrinsic is missing the world today, a sense of love and empathy seems lost.

“…A world without love will burn away…”.

The song urges the listener to hold onto hope. This in a world where “…millions of lives are paralysed…”. The narrator wants the listener to know that even in these times that feel harsh, “…know that love is stronger than the hate…”.

“…Don’t sit and cry and say goodbye.

Cos hate will settle down…someday…”.

‘Someday’ makes observations about life as we know it that feel matter of fact and almost bleak. “….We’re torn apart. In the name of the Lord we don’t need another war…”. But even in the face of this fact, there a sense of resilience that comes from the song’s lyric and soundscape.

The song’s climax dives deep into a cascading guitar solo that seems to perfectly encapsulate the emotions of the song. Its cascades through, almost in-dialogue with the singer’s lyrics, allowing this sense of hope to permeate and seep through the song’s narrative.

‘Someday’ by Chandesh Kudwa calls for hope in a world that seems paralised by hate. It urges its audience not to waste away within those swirling and prevalent negative narratives, asking them to hold on because this hate should settle, someday.
