Ben Konarov - Road to Nowhere

Head on the “Road to Nowhere” with Ben Konarov’s latest indie pop rock chiller

There’s something consistently genuine about songwriter Ben Konarov’s music, and it’s easy to spot whether you’re a long-time listener or stumbling across his work for the first time. Konarov has spent more than two decades in the indie Australian scene having started songwriting in 2002. Working in genres from pop to country, and teaming up with a steady stream of talented vocal collaborators. His top ten tracks on the AMRAP Metro Charts have set a pretty high bar, but new single “Road to Nowhere” keeps that warm, relatable streak going strong.

Right from the start, “Road to Nowhere” feels familiar in a good way. Ben Konarov kicks things off with a clean, arpeggiated guitar riff. Not trying too hard. The bass and drums fall in smoothly. George Alexander’s vocals bring just the right amount of earnestness, with a delivery that could slot alongside an upbeat Crowded House moment. The song has an easy pop/rock bounce, mid-tempo and laid-back, perfect for a drive or just ” relax and have a cold beer”.

The track has been composed and performed by:

Ben Konarov – Lyricist
Gary Cubberley – Composer/Producer
George Alexander – Vocalist

Interspersed some muted, clean rhythm guitar adds extra groove. There are some really cool vocal harmonies as the bridge comes in. Konarov’s songwriting shines in these moments that invite a casual singalong. The lyrics are simple but honest, about looking for a way forward, feeling pressure, craving somewhere to unwind. Ben Konarov has a track that’s easy to live with and relatable, relaxed, and quietly uplifting. That’s its strength. For feeling right, any day of the week.
