Copper Lungs Craft Addictive Epic Alt Indie Rock Pop with “Broken Beautiful”

Copper Lungs‘s ‘Broken Beautiful‘ sure doesn’t sound like a debut album. Hailing from Dundee, Scotland, the band has put together a polished, heartfelt, and surprisingly addictive collection of songs that land somewhere between pop punk, alternative rock, and shimmery indie pop.

There’s a lot to love here, starting with how good this album sounds by Copper Lungs. The production is crisp and dreamlike, with reverby guitar lines that give off a magical, almost floaty vibe. That’s paired with layered vocals, tight drumming, and just the right amount of synths to keep things interesting. Frontman Darren’s vocals really carry the emotive weight of these songs, with that perfect mix of vulnerability and power.

“Pieces of Me” kicks things off with energy and confidence. It’s got a driving beat, a catchy chorus, and a brief but tasteful guitar solo. The mix of synth textures with the alt rock instrumentation works really well. Just natural. It’s a strong opener that hints at how much the band has up its sleeve.

The title track “Broken Beautiful” shifts into a slightly more pop-focused groove but keeps the rock edge intact. Then there’s “Brushed in Gold,” which is probably one of the standout tracks here. It leans into retro pop territory with a tropical, almost new wave feel, groovy, melodic, and totally addictive. The funky syncopated guitar riff in the verses is just so satisfying, and when the chorus hits with that surge of guitars,.

A few songs follow a similar structure, like “Always” and “Free World” without getting repetitive. The band knows how to keep each track feeling distinct while sticking to a cohesive sound. “All I’m Believing” brings in some of that big U2-style emotion, with piano and soaring guitars that build into a satisfying crescendo. “Life Your Away” and “Falling” both end with these gorgeous, reverby outros that feel cinematic. Copper Lungs are true songsmiths.

The final two tracks, “Space and Time” and “Lost Without You,” wrap things up beautifully. “Lost Without You” in particular closes the album with an epic feel, those delayed guitar lines, the layered vocals, the steady pulse of the drums. It leaves you on a high note, feeling just right. What a delicious musical meal, I must say!

What Copper Lungs have done here is really impressive. ‘Broken Beautiful’ is full of catchy hooks, emotional moments, and a sound that feels both big and intimate. What’s great about this album? Why does it sound so good? It’s a brilliant blend of epic and inspiring guitar work, pop songwriting, and brilliant drumming. As a fan of modern metal and alt rock, I loved this indie pop rock and alternative rock album. I really loved it! I would highly recommend it to anyone. Copper Lungs have arrived, and they’ve arrived sounding really, really good.
