Preta LE’s ‘Jorge’ Turns Survival into Sacred Power with Faith

What I like most about the song ‘Jorge’ is the philosophy behind its virtual voice. Leticia Cristina is not a trained singer, but she is a storyteller forged by survival. A mother at 18, a woman who faced domestic violence, poverty, and prejudice. She uses artificial intelligence here to create a virtual voice named Preta Le. This virtual voice, Preta Le, is not a replacement for Leticia’s voice, but rather an amplification of one that might otherwise go unheard. Through AI, ‘Jorge’ becomes a song that speaks out Leticia’s truth. Rather than disapproving and negating the technology that has already arrived among human beings, Preta Le seems more like a handy user manual for guidance. Additionally, the song also proves that art need not be restricted to only the technically trained, but is also for those who have something urgent to say.

‘Jorge’ is a declaration of faith in Saint George, a spiritual shield spoken aloud by Leticia. The lyrics acknowledge a universal truth: that struggle greets us from our very first breath. But it is the faith that makes the struggle seem like lessons and experiences. The track narrows its perspective to a reality that is far more specific, heavier, and often ignored. Through ‘Jorge’, the listeners get to know a story about the lived experience of a poor Black woman whose faith in Saint George and love of creation became her companion and led her to where she is today. This honesty is the song’s pulse.

‘Jorge’ stands as a testament to Black womanhood, faith as resistance, and survival transformed into art, along with the assistance of modern technology. Find more stories and updates about Preta Le on Instagram, YouTube, Spotify, and her Website.
