The budding star Proklaim brings another special to the house, infusing his trademark elements of dance music, reggaeton and fast rhymes on his latest single, “Poppin”. Keep reading for my thoughts!
The whole track is filled with energy from the ground up that starts coming on to you from the minute you click play– where Proklaim goes to town on his rhyming game, incorporating faster, and more complex than ever rhyming schemes into his delivery, that stand out as a highlight on “Poppin”. He’s fast, and he’s layered here; and “Poppin” displays an evolution in his skill as a rapper unlike anything we’ve seen from him before.
The production keeps up without a struggle, too– serving to highlight the importance of good production in a hip-hop track. The beat flows effortlessly, and keeps up with the flow with panache and flavour.The percussion is another highlight here, especially with the shakers that serve to set and keep the rhythm flowing quite elegantly throughout the track. They also introduce a good amount of energy up at the highs, keeping a sense of urgency alive in the song throughout its duration.

The mix and master is great– it’s solid, and gets the basics right. From excellent control down low to great stereo imaging that makes sure every instrument has a space to occupy in the mix, there is solid technical prowess that shines throughout “Poppin”, and I was left a fan!
