Just dropped my headphones after listening to Nexxus 604’s new single “Awakening” – and wow, what a trip! The track kicks off with these super trippy atmospheric synths that immediately get under your skin, and then layers of hypnotic sounds also get introduced that have you hanging on every beat. You’re settling into the groove when, at the 1:00 mark, the techno beats drop in and take everything up a notch.

Once the beats hit, you’re basically transported to a whole other dimension where stress just melts away. The track keeps building and building, throwing more electronic layers at you, each one better than the last. But what’s really smart is how they give you these little breather moments just when you need them.

That female vocal sample toward the second half is another pure genius move. It guides you into a meditative, psychedelic space that just hits differently. Then Nexxus 604 flips the script in the second half, getting all introspective on us before – BAM! – slowly cranking up the suspense again until you’re right back in full-on dance mode.
The way Nexxus 604 has worked those synths and bass throughout is just chef’s kiss – pure electronic mastery from start to finish.
