Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires Concocts A Retro Synth Odyssey With ‘Psychedelic Soul & Trash Vol. 3’

If Halloween had a soundtrack, ‘Psychedelic Soul & Trash Vol. 3‘ by Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires would be the perfect pick. This new release from the Hertfordshire, UK based duo Nick Foster and Luke Barratt layers a wild mix of psychedelic pop, retro synth rock, and alternative pop into an otherworldly experience. This album plays like a thrilling, sci-fi horror ride, and it has something for just about every fan of synths, samples, and some rock flavor on the side.

Kicking things off, “Interstellar Life” sets a trippy, hazy tone that weaves through the entire album. Here, Miran Rayat holds down a steady drum beat while MbcCianowski’s vocal samples add a touch of spaciness. Featuring James Atkin (of EMF fame), this track leans toward classic psychedelic rock with just enough of a cosmic vibe to keep you intrigued. “Interstellar Life” sounds like what you’d hear in a dream or a retro sci-fi flick—a perfect opener to a deeply atmospheric album.

From there, ‘Cosmic Discotheque’ amps up the vibe with heavier rock and a gothic edge, showing off James Atkin’s vocals and production. The soundscapes really shine here, and it’s a track that’s easy to get lost in. If you’re into gothic rock with a psychedelic twist, this song is bound to grab your attention. In “Close to You,” the duo switches gears a bit, bringing in Eliot Foster on guitar and strings for a groove-heavy sound. The bassline here is seriously catchy, and the wah-wah guitar rhythms give it a laid-back, funky flavor. This one features a fun blues-rock guitar solo that’s full of personality, adding yet another layer to the album’s musical diversity by Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires

Then there’s ‘Something Wicked This Way Comes’, which leans into funk and soul with a groovy bassline that gets you moving. This track surprises with a saxophone solo that fits right in, bringing a touch of classic funk to the mix. And in the haunting “Autumn Fall,” a late-60s rock-inspired sound by Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires brings things back to a simpler, more nostalgic vibe. You’ll even hear a bit of saxophone here, which rounds out the retro feel perfectly.

For fans of the experimental, “Summer Haze” is a standout track, channeling the style of Yellow Magic Orchestra. It feels like stepping into a retro electronic daydream, mixing synths with innovative production. “Season of the Witch” provides a reflective moment. It’s stripped-back, moody, and totally atmospheric, serving as a thoughtful pause before the album’s high-energy finish. “Cosmic Discotheque – Part 2” brings us full circle with groovy percussion and retro synths, adding one last punch of color to close out this uniquely crafted album.

Legends of the Seven Golden Vampires’ blend nostalgia with modern creativity. Foster and Barratt make good use of their musical friends, adding variety across each track while maintaining a cohesive, cosmic-horror aesthetic. The production is top-notch and smartly executed, so if you’re ready for a Halloween-themed musical escape with plenty of retro charm and indie flair, this album delivers big time!
