Darrian Gerard – Old Wounds | Complex Equation

Canadian singer/songwriter from a small town in British Columbia, Darrian Gerard has a new song out called “Old Wounds“. She just puts all into her love equation to see it through. She procrastinates, asks, and seeks explanations, which sometimes transports you to brighter, more innocent times while sometimes describing how things are not going as envisioned. The writing brilliantly takes us through her roller coaster chains of ideas, which are all too familiar to many of us. She intuitively adds emotional upheaval in her writing as well, making you experience the scenario so deeply. When we immerse ourselves in the narrative and trust her to guide us through, the writing and the way the song is performed truly connect with you intimately.

The song’s arrangements are reminiscent of the Rock genre. The arrangement is mostly built on guitar progressions, which offer a strong foundation for the composition. It allows you to experience the intensity when needed, and it can also draw everything down to allow you to breathe. The drums and bass are delivered so energetically that they discreetly complement the singing. The whole atmosphere of the music makes it very appealing to listen to it again and again. Fundamentally, the songwriting is the driving force behind the arrangements and all of the linked aspects coming together so seamlessly. The song would undoubtedly fascinate many listeners since the intention is expressed with such clarity and ease that it allows for easy comprehension.
