Aura Davis has always been an artistic individual. Having written poems and novels from the age of 9, she showcased a flair for creative expression. Aura has dealt with mental health-related issues in the past which she has worked through with the help of writing music. At the age of 22, she picked up her guitar again and began writing music. Citing various influences, Aura Davis creates hauntingly cathartic music.
What You Love is a track that seems to explore the grittiness of a toxic relationship. The guitar seems to have this gut-wrenching effect that remains tinny and bright. The drums, along with bass, maintain a slow, sombre rhythm that makes me reminisce about artists like Dolores O’Riordan and Adelle. The whole song screams Pop Rock with this edgy feeling in the atmosphere. The timbre also hints towards a more hostile, dark sense that looms over everything else. This track really gets you in its grips and takes you for a rollercoaster – much like Adelle’s Skyfall.
I find that Aura Davis has this uncanny ability to showcase strength and power through her lyricism. Her ability to express herself is incomparable. She shows a great sense of maturity and understanding of herself and her music. Additionally, Aura has come a long way and has a long way to go.
