Alice June – City Vibes | Harmonic Gem

Alice June is an Italian singer-songwriter who writes and sings songs in English. Raised in a little town in the north of Italy, she started playing roles in musicals in local theatres until she moved to Milan where she extended her singing activities and musical experiences on the main stages of the city and started to work with professionals.
Worldwide travels, freedom, love and people with stories are the inspirations for her lyrics. UK indie pop-rock genre of groups like Florence and the Machine has a strong influence on her sounds. Her music is a perfect fabric woven out of strong lyricism, great music, and up-to-the-mark mixing. Her songs touch the soul in a different way.

“Alice is on her way to the top and there’s no stopping her!”

Alice June released her newest single, ‘City Vibes’ which is a perfect mixture of ambient music and smooth vocals. The drum patterns are intricate and go perfectly with the heavily-reverbed guitar melody. The high-pitch vocals hit right on the spot to make you weak in your knees. The groovy music is bund to enchant anyone who listens to the song. The lyrics are delicately chosen to induce the maximum impact. The vocal texture of the artist just wins my heart over and over every single time. The way the song goes up and comes down so smoothly is the 8th wonder of the world. The song is beautifully executed through equally strong music, lyrics, singing, and mixing. Big ups to the engineer who mixed and mastered the track.

We had a chance to have a little chat with Alice and where she has answered some really interesting questions which I am sure, her fans are dying to know. This is how the interview went.

1. In the song ‘City Vibes’, the intense music perfectly embraces your vocals. What was your inspiration for the music?

“Thank you! For City Vibes I’ve imagined a dreamy atmosphere and a conversation between two people, surrounded by the colors, the sounds and the magic vibes of the city right before the evening comes. So I needed a music that could create an atmosphere, ethereal and concrete at the same time, I hope to have reached the goal :).”

2. The lyrics are highly relatable throughout the song. What is your writing process? How do you start writing a song?

“I have different approaches.. sometimes, like in the case of City Vibes it all came starting from an emotion that I wanted to describe.  I wrote the lyrics after a long walk in Milano. I was so inspired by the vibes of the city that I wanted to transfer those emotions immediately into music. So as soon as I could I started to write it down.  This is how City vibes was born: emotions, lyrics and then melody.”

3. What do you think are the key points you keep in your mind while making any music?

“Good question. I honestly don’t follow any specific rule or key point while creating music 🙂 Of course I believe that to make the song work the melody has to be simple and catchy and the overall song has to possibly deliver a clear message or have a specific atmosphere.”

4. After an amazing song like ‘City Vibes’, what do you have up your sleeve next for your fans?

“Ah, I’m working on something new 🙂 stay tuned!”

5. You infused some folk elements in your first song ‘Waterfall’ and acapella vocals in your latest song. Are you planning on experimenting with any more genres?

“Yes! I like to experiment, it’s a way of expressing myself under different lights. In the meantime I always try to keep an eye on a sort of conduction line which is in my case a dark pop style that you can find in both the projects. Thank you for the questions guys!”
