Qeeran’s “GIVE AND TAKE” delivers a soulful R&B track with lush instrumentation and emotional lyrics

Melbourne-based artist Qeeran has unveiled his latest single “GIVE AND TAKE” from his upcoming 9-track album, “IN RETROSPECT,” and it’s a soulful R&B number that captures the nuances of modern relationships. The track begins with a colourful lo-fi keyboard chord progression that sets a dreamy, sensual R&B vibe, while Qeeran’s delicate and heartfelt vocal performance takes center stage around the rich instrumentation. The song’s lyrical content is poignant and introspective, exploring the challenges of navigating a relationship where one partner seems to be doing all the giving, and the other just taking.

Qeeran’s vocal delivery is reminiscent of Alina Baraz, but he manages to imbue his own unique style into the track, with lo-fi beats and electronica embellishments that add depth and energy to the song. As the track progresses, smooth transitions and lush vocal harmonies make for a pleasurable listening experience that leaves you wanting more.

“GIVE AND TAKE” is a powerful introduction to Qeeran’s debut album IN RETROSPECT, which is set to be released on April 17. The 9-track project is self-produced, written, mixed and mastered, and is a personal exploration of the Malaysian-born artist’s experiences, ranging from migration, love and heartbreak, to inner and outer growth and self-love. Qeeran’s musical background is influenced by Galimatias, Alina Baraz, and SG Lewis, and he manifests his artistry and musicianship within his self-produced and self-written tracks while studying Econometrics/Business Analytics at Monash University.

Overall, “GIVE AND TAKE” is a soulful and introspective track that showcases Qeeran’s talents as a singer, songwriter, and producer. With the release of his debut album, Qeeran is poised to make waves in the R&B/Soul scene, and IN RETROSPECT is shaping up to be one of the most highly anticipated releases of the year.
