Kristian Phillip Valentino – It’s Fallen | Nostalgia

Singer-songwriter Kristian Philip Valentino recently shared a new single titled ‘It’s Fallen’ from his upcoming debut album For everything, there is a season. Since March ’21, the North Carolina-based artist has been releasing a track on a monthly basis about one of his relationships. Best known for his Indie-folk and Americana-influenced compositions, his latest release features a melancholic sound similar to artists such as Gregory Alan Isakov and Iron and Wine.

The track begins with an acoustic guitar progression over which warm piano melodies play, creating a sense of lightness and comfort. Kristian’s rich, layered vocals come in and he sings a sad story, reminiscing about the past. “Enchantment is a funny game / The way it lifts you off before you find the words to say…”, – The nostalgic lyrics fit quite well with the mellow instrumentation, and the story is one that many people will be able to relate to, making this track all the more engaging.

Kristian compares the timeline of a relationship with the four seasons. This particular track is about Autumn – the time when the detachment starts and the tedious process of moving on begins. He captures this feeling beautifully in the aptly named ‘It’s Fallen’. The emotive vocals and dreamy atmospheres present in the track form a very moving and relaxing sound overall; a top-notch production with a very dynamically strong mix. Hits you right in the feels!

With nine tracks out from his awaited debut album, Kristian has kept his promise of dropping a song every month. In my opinion, the intricate lyricism on his tracks shines out the most and will draw in quite a few listeners. In just three more tracks, the relationship will end, and I’m already quite eager to know how the story unfolds!
