Jem Doulton – Love Ain’t Enough (Sometimes) | Hazy Dream

Jem Doulton (Formerly Mr Ron Jetson) is a London-based musician. Jem has a significant amount of experience in the music industry – currently a part of various groups such as Thurston Moore, Róisín Murphy, Dead Days Beyond Help, The Oscillation, Melos Kalpa, Fuse Box City and Forebrace. Creating dreamy soundscapes with his music, Jem’s experience shows quite vividly. Not only does Jem Doulton make music, but he is an artist as well!

Love Ain’t Enough (Sometimes) is such a tasteful piece of art. There appears to be some Post Rock influence with the distorted guitars taking up a large portion of the mix. The drums are easy-flowing, at a lento tempo. The synthesizer is majestically programmed to create a cloudy atmosphere as if you’re in a hazy dream. The dreamscape finds its way into a darker sphere as if transforming into a nightmare. Love Ain’t Enough (Sometimes) seems to take the grim lyrics, relatively upbeat instrumental, and flips it on itself.

I can and will get behind Jem Doulton for this work. I feel like this is as authentic and raw as an artist can get. This is like peering into the soul of an artist and seeing them as they see themselves. I can’t say enough to get you to listen to this track. It really sells itself, but you should definitely listen to it to appreciate it!

I listen to and make silly noises while analysing why people behave the way they do.
