Hyattsvillain – Kids Don’t Buy Groceries | Experimental Trip

Hyattsvillain is an enigmatic artist hailing from Washington DC. With grungy, instrumentals and interesting recitation, the mysterious artist crafts rather interesting songs. In his interview with Mystic Sons, he cited early 2000s groups like The Strokes and Interpol as some music he enjoyed listening to. The mysterious artist himself creates a sound that is as distinguishable as any of these groups. With an ever-growing discography, Hyattsvillain has released four singles with an upcoming album entitled Short Songs For A Fast Life.

His latest single, Kids Don’t Buy Groceries makes me reminiscent of The Downward Spiral by Nine Inch Nails. It also has similar features to Frank Zappa’s Joe’s Garage Acts I, II & III with the spoken word elements. I find the grungy overtones and the heavy bass features to be quite therapeutic. I think fans of rock, especially experimental rock, will really enjoy this track. There are so many experimental ideas that Hyattsvillain explores that just take you back in time. The overall explosive and antagonising textures in the song seem to have the same effect on me as listening to grunge bands like Nirvana and Alice In Chains.

Hyattsvillain is a rather interesting artist with so much to offer. Granted he has his niche, but I really think that his music will appeal to various fanbases. If you’re still unsure of what I’m talking about, then give him a listen for yourself!

I listen to and make silly noises while analysing why people behave the way they do.
