Franxie Lets the Weight Fall Away on “Stone”

Wollongong-based singer-songwriter and producer Franxie released “Stone” on September 18, 2026. The alternative folk ballad was originally written nearly a decade ago, and focuses on anxiety, emotional exhaustion, and letting go. Built around vocals and piano, it keeps the natural imperfections of the performance, with subtle bass and electric guitar from longtime friend Sofia Pila.

Stone opens on gentle aah’s accompanied by a piano. It’s quiet from the beginning, like someone sitting across from you and trying to find the words to explain something they have been carrying for a long time.

Meanwhile, the lyrics, “Like a heavy hand pushing on my chest…I’m falling down, I’m ready now, on my knees…what have I done? Fallin’ like a stone,” bring the feeling of anxiety to life through the image of something physically pressing down on you. The stone becomes that weight, something that keeps pulling you down no matter how much you try to stand back up.

Musically, it stays minimal, with the vocals and lyrics taking centre stage. The piano keeps the pace with a gentleness like fingers tapping against a table while someone gathers their thoughts. Stone is the kind of song a loved one would play to you seated in their room. You listen to every word slowly and understand that they are not asking you to fix anything. Only giving themselves permission to stop fighting it.
