Forgotten Garden – Christmas Time | Haunting

Indie-rock band Forgotten Garden are out with a dark and emotional track called ‘Christmas Time’ that features vocalist Inês’ haunting, yet soothing vocals over lush instrumentation by Danny. The Portuguese-Scottish duo was formed in 2019 and they have released an EP and a few singles since then. Known best for their alternative-rock track ‘Jessica’ from earlier this year, the band takes explores a different sound on their new release and they share a sad story about the festival with a lot of creativity and emotion.

‘Christmas Time’ starts with a mellow grand piano melody that accompanies rich strings in the intro. Inês sings about the dark side of Christmas, reminiscing over past memories and recollecting how the holiday isn’t the best time for everyone. “Christmas time will always bring back the truth, that nothing lasts”. Lush harmonies add just the right amount of depth to the vocals and are supported extravagantly by the dynamic string performance. Her reverb-drenched voice shines through exquisitely as the track progresses, and the chorus melodies are bound to stick to your head – a truly captivating performance with elegant lyricism.

Inspired by bands such as The Cure and The Doors, Forgotten Garden incorporate a similar conversational composition style that tells a story. With hints of psychedelia in their melodies, the song also features smooth and effective transitions that emphasize the seamless flow of the track. It’s a song that shares an unfamiliar view of the holiday season. It reminds listeners that Christmas is not always joyful for everyone and that some people go through difficult times during the holidays.

Forgotten Garden has added another fantastic track to their discography and I’m sure the fans are eager to hear more soon!
