“Falling Again”, by Daisy Valentine and Khaki Fever: An electrifying blend of pop and electro!

Daisy Valentine and Khaki Fever make a comeback into independent, unsigned music with her fiery, energetic sound that blends elements of pop, electronic dance music, as well as some electro elements. On their latest single, “Falling Again”, the combo brings forth an uptempo, uplifting sound that is sure to amaze– keep reading for my thoughts!

When one listens to Daisy Valentine, echoes of Tame Impala’s ethereal vibes intertwine with the raw energy reminiscent of Mac Miller, while bold 80’s synths pay homage to icons like Madonna and Human League. There’s quite a lot to appreciate about the style of production that Daisy Valentine chooses to adopt on “Falling Again”, the whole song is reminiscent of an overall retro aesthetic, with arpeggiated synths that permeate the mix, and punch through with quite their candour and charm on the song.

The percussion is a standout feature on the song as it maintains the balance in the energy brought on by the synths, and keeps the track moving forward swiftly, and with clocklike precision. The control in the low-end is excellent, with the crystal clear highs contributing to a round, full sounding experience.

The vocals are another highlight on this song as they play perfect support to the rest of the production ensemble, matching the energy brought on by the synths and the percussion, and contributing to complete the sound of “Falling Again” into the firecracker mix that it is. The hook is memorable and infectious, and remains stuck in your head for a long time after the song has ended. Take all this energy and put it into a well-balanced mix and master that takes all the elements and strikes the Goldilocks with the dynamics and the energy, and you have yourself a pumping, well-engineered product.
