Exzenya’s ‘B!tch Please’ is a Roots Rock Proclamation

Exzenya is an independent artist with a genre-fluid approach to songwriting, moving between pop, R&B, soul and rock. Her latest single, ‘B!tch Please’, takes a decidedly bluesier route, with a roots-rock sound built around a thick bassline, steady drums and a vocal performance filled with attitude. The bass has a wonderfully heavy presence, while the blues-influenced chords and restrained tempo leave plenty of room for Exzenya’s storytelling. The blend of groove and harmony are central to the track’s groove, alongside Exzenya’s distinctive theatrical vocals and textures.

There is a playful confidence running through the track that makes its attitude particularly infectious.
