‘Wheels Stop’ by Eddie Cohn is an Indie-Rock Track that Captures Cathartic Expression

Wheels Stop’ by Eddie Cohn is a kinetic indie-rock tune that swirls through spirals while narrating a seemingly unhappy relationship. The soundscape feels as though it move to-and-fro, playing with tempo at a frenetic pace while the lyrics beg for what seems like torture to end.

The mood of the song feels like a free-fall, diving into the spiral of mind-bending emotions to make sense of them. This while every instrument that forms the soundscape pops by, like thoughts swirling past in an overwhelmed mind.

‘Wheels Stop’: Cathartic Sound Walls

‘Wheels Stop’ begins with a seemingly steady harmony of acoustic guitars that seem to dig and create and almost folk-like rhythm. This is before the soundscape switches tempo at the refrain, pushing us down this swirling rabbit-hole in an almost uncontrollable free-fall.

There’s a rawness to the sound that feels like its purging something. This is while our narrator seems to scream themselves hoarse over the cascading melodies. Here questioning the prinkling, mind-picking nature of a relationship that’s turned toxic.

“…Will you stop messing around in my head?…

…Can we be happier…?…”.

‘Wheels Stop’ feels as though it throws its emotions at the wall, hoping for catharsis and clarity in that catharsis. The purging spiral thats sonically described in the song feels like a swirling expanse, pointing in the general direction of lucidity but not quiet there yet.

Its sound and lyric is filled with a sense of regret, one that is nearly lost in the spiral of weighty emotion. The soundscape seems to viscerally personify racing thoughts that are stuck in a descending spiral, giving that swirling confusion a space to be let out.

‘Wheels Stop’ by Eddie Cohn is a safe space, void of clarity but made of pure expression. Its frustration is waiting to be alchemised, while toxicity is purged with a wall of sound that is simply screaming with emotions that need to be felt.

Cathartic, visceral and a piece of expansive expression.
