Birungi Alexander Kiremire, better known with his artist persona “Proklaim”, is no stranger to the studio — and to us; with hit over hit over the last few months, we’ve been privy to them all; and with a sound fresh and organic that it evolves with every new track, he now presents his latest work, “Crown” — keep reading for my thoughts!
Right from the start of the track, there is much to appreciate about the evolution that Proklaim has been displaying in his beats. Sticking to his distinctive reggaeton blend into hip hop formula, Proklaim continues to find new avenues to experiment throughout “Crown” — this time, going for a more lofty cheery sound in the beat — with a bit of a lo-fi twist to the basses. The atmosphere of the song remains delightfully placid and calm throughout, and we’re here to notice.

Proklaim’s lyrical ability, of course, are the standouts of all of his tracks — and “Crown” is no different. With complex rhymes that vary in articulation and pace throughout the track, there’s this organic feel to the rapping that instantly makes it sound more refined, organic, and alive, almost — and that’s high praise! Proklaim also takes the time to include tasteful melodic passages in the flow of the song, and it makes for a rather interesting dynamic throughout the song that I am glad to report has been pulled off rather well.

The mixing and mastering of “Crown” leaves nothing to be desired, with excellent low-end punch and a warm atmosphere that plays perfectly with the pianos, the guitars in the background; while the percussion remains minimalistic, focusing instead on maximising the punch and the groove with the help of the basses, which see a lot of life and articulation throughout the track.
All in all, “Crown” by Proklaim represents yet another banger step by the artist, with his continuously evolving sound, and a narrative strongly related to through his lyrics. Take a listen to the track here!
