Music has the power to evoke feelings that are particularly moving and dramatic through its emotional lyrics and melodies. Singer-songwriter and producer, Cristal B., does exactly that with her latest release, “Broken Heroes” – a follow-up to her debut single that came out earlier this year titled, “My Therapist”. On this track, Cristal talks about the effects of the pandemic and the upsetting events surrounding it – something I’m certain we all can relate to.
“We’re all going through the motions, day after day passes by and it all blends together into a night every time” – right from the start of the track, Cristall transports the listener to a place of sorrow and pain, reminding them of the anxiety that went along with the times. A lovely piano melody supports her delicate, yet powerful voice, creating a hypnotic space that absorbs you completely; just try closing your eyes!
As the track progresses, lush harmonies and pads float down below her voice, adding a bit of depth to her honest lyrics. It is evident here that Cristal is an excellent songwriter who translates strong emotions into her music in a truly captivating way.– “We are the champions of a world that’s falling to pieces / We are the broken heroes amounting to nothing but screaming in the void..”. An outstanding composition with a great mix as well.
Many people have faced unbearable hardships over the past few months, and the songs we usually hear don’t always address such issues I believe that Cristal B. has done a fantastic job on this track, talking about the important things that affect us all from a very honest perspective. In addition, her sincere vocal delivery on “Broken Heroes” makes this track stand out and I am looking forward to hearing more heartfelt music from her soon.
