Marshall, the British audio giant primarily famed for their guitar amplifiers that have achieved not less than legendary status over the decades, gracing the stages of bands like Metallica, AC/DC, and so many more, have come up with their brand new Emberton III and Willen II speakers, now available for the Indian market. In a space where there’s so much competition, how do these speakers stack up?
Marshall unveiled the speakers at a launch event, touting an IP67 rating for dust and water ingress protection. This means these speakers can stay submerged underwater for up to 30 minutes and still remain in perfect working order. Additionally, the larger Emberton III speaker comes with a claimed 32 hours of battery life to keep the party going, while the Willen II doesn’t fall too far behind for its size class, at 17 hours.

The Marshall Emberton III is a reliable choice for outdoor use, and additionally, includes a built-in microphone for calls, while the Willen, albeit smaller, still packs a solid punch. Marshall is quoted as having worked on the audio processing in both these models, in a bid to ensure balanced, consistent sound that punches above the size classes for both these speakers.
Bluetooth Speakers with Dynamic Loudness and Auracast
One of the most exciting new features in the third generation is a function called “Dynamic Loudness”. This is intended to adapt the speaker’s frequency response to theset volume — this is particularly useful at the lower ranges, where bass may not be as pronounced, and at high volumes, where the treble can be controlled to keep the speakers from getting shouty. While real-world tests are yet to realise the true potential of this feature, it’s a promising step.
More importantly, however, both the Willen and the Emberton get Bluetooth Low-Energy: the upcoming standard for audio, that keeps your tunes going without taxing your battery too much. Additionally, the Auracast feature lets you turn your speakers into a Bluetooth transmitter, so that you can leave the speaker docked in place while you get to beam the input audio to a pair of Bluetooth headphones.
All in all, the Marshall Emberton III and the Willen II: A solid pair of new launches that shout loud, and bellow proud. These speakers are on sale since 26 August, and can be bought from all major retail channels. Pick up your speaker today!
