I love the range hovercraft are able to bring in their songwriting. These Days has a softer appeal, from the tones to the way the guitars come across. Vocals are far more gentle, like a lullaby paced to a fun rhythm. The bass hisses through in this track brilliantly, balanced with the echoing guitar parts to be the heartbeat of the song. Back to the grind with Oh Yeah, we’re looking at rock tracks that become your swagger entry.

Tones are inked with that orange muff that came from the grunge era, with a lot more finesse and panache. How are you still seated while listening to these songs? I found myself awkwardly grooving to this in front of my partner. She found it apt to join in as well. Pass The Night Nurse shows hovercraft having impressive dynamic range in their compositions. There is a far more minimal palette going on here, with that dramatic Broadway tune flash coming in during the bridge and chorus. I loved the intensity of the vocals creating quite the flurry in the vision of this song. Great compositions and balance to how much energy is packed into these numbers.

Songwriting, with purpose

We go mellow with Low, becoming the ebb to the incredible flow we’ve been experiencing. Charlie showed a taste incredibly well travelled, capturing in a capsule what it’s like to live through this world. From Winchester to Grimsby to Brighton to India-there’s a small part of all these places in these songs, and how it’s been presented to the listener.
