Black Astronaut Records have brought a flow with their music that might turn into an addiction. Known for creative and clever lyricism, well crafted flows and a bounce to their tracks. The latest offering from the project might be a combination of some of the most bizarre word pairings. Tell your friends you love this album, and remember the name: The Walrus, The Ninja and The Gypsy From Sydney.
Other than sounding like an opening line of a bar joke, the music goes way deeper. Think of this as your hook and bait, and you’re able to get sucked into something rejuvenating. The opening single is called Staring at the Ceiling– a great mix of thoughts written and expressed in true reflective fashion. With the jaunty piano flow, it’s thrilling to hear what Black Astronaut Records bring a showcase that powers the artists’ creativity. The Ambien Rap uses the infamous Real Slim Shady beat and sample by Eminem for the song with a very different approach. Though the flow is predictable thanks to the original sample being so famous-there are interesting bends and twists you can experience all through the song.
When Pawn My Kidneys comes in-you’re in for enjoying a very zany flow and lyrical prowess. It’s an artist who is comfortable in their skin-recharging you with verses that have their fingerprints uniquely all over it. It is what sets the album apart from other artists who put out albums just for the sake of it. Each track has a certain level of detail or energy expended in how it’s constructed.
The funky groove begins with Gypsy Funk. Using a vernacular beat- it brings a vibe that is a pleasant shift from the standard beats you might hear. It’s the writing and presentation that makes these different songs so sticky and enjoyable. From when you have listened to The Worlds a Cartoon, you know what Black Astronaut Records is capable of. When you continue to Pez Dispenser you’ll know there’s a charge the artist is able to bring with quite some panache. The album is a release after 3 years-Elbows and Fears 2 being the previous one. The style has grown and evolved in many ways, and it’s interesting to hear.
Hip-hop has evolved it its own way-from cloud rap and revival being part of the trend now. Black Astronaut Records are on their way to a passionate collection of brilliant music. By the time you finish this album, you’ve gone through a well put together catalogue of experimentations from the past 2 years.
