Album Review: Post Malone wears the coveted country cape with his latest album, “F-1 Trillion”

We all know about Post Malone and his innate ability to make any moment joyous. From his candour to passion for comedy, love for all kinds of music-he is on a thrill ride. His charitable spirit, excitement to make music and his famous tattooed face are forever ingrained in our systems. For a musician who doesn’t limit himself to the genres that granted him success, this new album has it all. I mean, has them all. All the country legends come together to help Post leverage this album. This one is called F-1 Trillion.

It doesn’t take a lot to get country musicians together. A gathering space, beer and love for the genre and its counterparts is more than sufficient. If you have seen the CMA’s at any point in your life, you know how welcoming and thrilling the bunch can be. I can see Post Malone wanting to be a part of that highly social group. With his taste reaching from Yungblud to Eric Johnson’s lucid guitar magic-nothing keeps this man away from experiencing the joy of melodies.

Where country legends unite

With Tim McGraw, he performs the opening song called Wrong Ones. It is the perfect entry song into the country genre, and Post Malone keeps his voice while having the appreciative buffer. The artists featuring in the album lead the way, but Post isn’t too far behind. Absorbing the rhythm, he immediately locks into the groove, with flying colours. A voice that can be recognised on any radio, Post takes this opportunity to have the country scale tip the weight to his side.

Instrumental pockets are truly refreshing. Post Malone really loves the structure of this kind of music, and lets the breathing space flourish. The time when crowds starting swinging their hips to the music-that is retained. You can predict the time Post Malone’s silver teeth will flash that grin, watching what his music is doing to make people come together. Hell, this might warrant his own Eras tour.

Hank Williams Jr. puts together a thrilling, faster tempo track. Many contemporary musicians seem to pivot towards country during some phase of their career. Beyonce did it recently, and let’s be honest, she crushed it. Her vocals are beyond belief after all this time, and she encapsulated what the genre has represented for so long. F-1 Trillion is Post’s renaissance, to a place he has never been before. Glad to see how many friends he brought along for the trail.

More than cameos

Morgan Wallen comes along for I Had Some Help. Well, isn’t that the byline of this album. Many of these songs carry more of a 70-30 balance, where Malone is trying to reflect on how these hitmakers carry the torch of their genre. As satisfying as it is to see a musician try a new genre, there is respect. Respect in knowing a virtuoso’s voice is unique, and you’re here to observe.

His internship is pretty amazing, however. Pour Me A Drink with Blake Shelton is going to be many bro-code drink anthems soon. Happy, excited and full of references-the songs have Post Malone really stretching the boundaries of the R&B/Contemporary Pop space he originates from. The Queen is back in the next single, Have The Heart has Dolly Parton lending her sweet voice. The harmonies have that extra pep knowing that the kind, charismatic singer is featuring on the song. What Don’t Belong to Me is the track that Post sings all by himself. Probably after all these lessons, he wanted to try his hand at the canvas. It is elegant, and emotional. His vulnerability is on the line. Tears and country? Welcome to your second home Post.

An artist, living for the art

Brad Paisley is on the next song, and he makes his guitar work seen. Goes Without Saying has a refreshing aura that shows that the melodies are in the pocket. Post knows when to take the back seat, let the talented instrumentalists or vocalists find their feel. Luke Combs comes in for two singles, sharing his talented songwriting skills with Malone to make a refreshing, symphonic setting. So what is Post Malone’s deal?

Look, I’m asking too late. When people called him a poser, he put together a stellar album to prove himself right. When they asked him to leave hip-hop, he scored a diamond selling hit with his single Sunflower. He went guitar pop with Austin and people chanted his lyrics in stadiums. The man has an outlook on life that people desperately need. It is this optimism he is sharing with his fans, listeners all over the globe. With F-1 Trillion, he crushes it in the country scene, while having a social experiment that would be a solid hang. Let’s face it. Post Malone gets music, and we get Post Malone:

Self professed metalhead, moderately well read. If the music has soul, it's whole to me. The fact that my bio could have ended on a rhyme and doesn't should tell you a lot about my personality.
