Rage Against The Machine Drummer Confirms End of Live Performances

After canceling 2023 tour dates, experimental alt rock band Rage Against The Machine has reportedly decided to call it quits for live performances, according to an announcement from drummer Brad Wilk on social media.

In October 2022, the band canceled their 2023 North America Tour due to frontman Zack de la Rocha’s Achilles tendon injury sustained during a show in Chicago in 2022. Despite initial hopes for rescheduling, drummer Brad Wilk has now declared the end of live performances for the band.

Wilk stated on Wednesday, January 3, through his social media, “RATM (Tim, Zack, Tom, and I) will not be touring or playing live again. I’m sorry for those who have been waiting for this to happen. I really wish it was…”

While Wilk’s statement seems definitive, there has been no official confirmation from the band’s management, and the group’s official social media channels remain silent on the matter. Guitarist Tom Morello, an active presence on social media, has also offered no comment.

Rumors of a Rage reunion began circulating in the fall of 2019, leading to the band’s official announcement and subsequent rescheduling of their tour for the summer of 2022. Prior to this reunion, Rage Against The Machine had not performed together since their L.A. Rising show in 2011.

The band’s history includes drummer Brad Wilk recording with Black Sabbath in 2013, and in 2016, members forming Prophets of Rage. Frontman Zack de la Rocha released a solo album in the same year.

Last year, the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
