A Pawsome moment for Liam Gallagher as he receives a PETA Award for Animal Adoption Awareness.
The chords of music may not have been struck for some time now but Liam Gallagher, former lead singer of the legendary band Oasis, has been striking all the right chords outside of music in 2024. PETA honoured Liam by striking a significant note about an award titled ‘Strike the Right Chord for Animals’ on account of his commendable work towards animal wellbeing.
Liam Gallagher started working on advocacy in 2023 when he adopted Buttons, an abandoned dog in Thailand. He has been posting numerous updates about his life with Buttons on social media, showing everyone the happiness she brings to him and his family. In a warm and heartfelt statement, Liam Gallagher mentioned that rescuing Buttons had been the best decision they had ever made. “She brings so much happiness to our lives and everybody else she comes across. Lucky to have her; we’re obsessed. Seriously adopt a homeless dog.”
According to PETA, the award is their appreciation of Gallagher’s action at a time when the number of abandonment cases has increased in animal shelters globally, including those in the UK. In choosing to adopt instead of buying a pet, PETA hopes that Gallagher will set an example for his devoted fan base.
“Liam’s compassionate move comes at a time when animal shelters across the UK and elsewhere are reporting spiking numbers of animal abandonment cases,” PETA said in a statement. “By opening his heart and home to a dog desperately in need of a loving family, Liam has set a wonderful example for his legions of fans, unlike other out-of-touch celebrities who buy ‘pedigree’ breeds.”

The organization hailed Gallagher for his decision to adopt, but more importantly for using his platform to propagate the need to give abandoned animals a second chance at life. In a time when most celebrities choose designer breeds at exorbitant prices, this one’s different.
Fans will be on the lookout for Liam Gallagher when the Oasis tour comes through later this year, but now he’s lending his voice to advocacy through animal adoption.
